While Peggy knows that she must set an actual date for the wedding, she's never minded doing things out of order. She has her bridesmaid, she's spoken to Tony about the event, and now she wants to get herself a proper dress. Perhaps it's the rationing mindset that's still in her head, but when she takes Daniel out for a shopping trip, she doesn't yank him along to a bridal shop, but instead a department store.

She still remembers the wedding dresses sewn from parachutes and the simplicity of so many quick weddings. With that in mind, it's hard for her to want to see herself in a wedding dress. That, and she still remembers the one she'd tried on, so close to being married in it. For this she's more than happy to put herself in something else.

"We'll find a chair for you to sit in," she promises Daniel as she walks, arm in arm with him. "Seeing as you're the one I want to please, I'd love some opinions."

That said, she's going to ensure there are still some surprises, which is why she's not letting him near the lingerie store with her.

He still couldn't believe his luck. He was going to be marrying Peggy Carter. He was going to get to wake up next to her every morning that she wasn't on a mission and go to sleep with her every night that he wasn't. If someone had told him that was gonna happen right after Bastogne, he'dve thought they were high on morphine, but here he was, talking about wedding dresses.

"You'll look great in anything and you know it, but I don't mind giving my opinion," he agreed warmly. "Especially if there's a chair."

"Well, lucky then that I phoned ahead," she says, squeezing his hand gently as she brings him to the little vintage shop that she'd arranged to do this at. While Peggy hasn't minded some of the more modern styles, she wants to get married in something that will feel like home and that she'll look the part in.

"Now, I have some thoughts on colours already," she admits. "Jewel tones, mainly, but I thought we'd start with navy blue and emerald greens and work from there." The saleswoman has set some things aside, not only the ones she'd wanted, but also modern pieces intermixed, so Peggy won't have to make two stops.

"Yeah, those darker colors tend to look good on you," he agreed. He'd known she wasn't really thinking about the white dress, not with what happened the last time she'd been trying on a white dress, but he hadn't been sure how far away from white she wanted to go.

Apparently she was willing to go pretty far, and that was fine with him.

"Do I get to make any requests, or should I just trust that you know what I like?"

He probably wasn't exactly subtle about what he liked about Peggy's figure and clothes, but he didn't think she minded.

"You can absolutely make requests," she assures, her eyes glittering with the promise of getting to wear something that Daniel is absolutely going to love. It might not be the same wedding dress shopping as she's meant to be doing, but Peggy has never really been that sort of girl to adhere to traditions.

She takes up the first dress, which is incredibly dark, but long, and heads into the changeroom to begin. "You can ask the assistant to pull things if you'd like! I'll try them on after!"

He wasn't sure he was going to like that first dress, but he'd wait and see. Maybe it wouldn't look so much like a funeral dress or something a nun should wear when Peggy wore it. Peggy wasn't much of a nun, and thank god for that.

While he was waiting for her to change, he looked through the dresses already on the rack and then picked a dress to add to her pile of things to try on. He liked that one because of the color and how much of her back it showed off.

Peggy steps out wearing the dress, not entirely sure it fits the bill. It's rather more like something that would be worn around the office and not to her own wedding, which means that she doubts it would be good for the occasion. She steps out and gives Daniel a look like she already knows what he's going to say.

"Bottom of the pile for this one, I think," she admits. She takes up a lilac one next, which seems more bridesmaid than bride, but still, better than a white one.

No, that definitely looked like a nun would wear it, except for the lack of sleeves, and he thought he probably made a little face. Not that Peggy didn't make it look as good as she could, of course.

"I think the only good thing about that one is the pockets and that you'd be able to wear a thigh holster with it," he agreed.

"Even I'm not going to wear a gun to our wedding," Peggy admits from behind the door as she changes into the lilac number, thinking that while she always wants to be prepared, she also thinks that there's a difference between being prepared and inviting trouble. "Besides, with our guest list, if someone wants to cause trouble, I pity them."

Tony alone would probably be able to make any villains regret what they were doing. "I was thinking that I might like to invite a few more people, if you're all right with that," she says, shimmying a little before opening the door to show off option number two. "What do you think?" Of the dress and the invite list, she means.

"There's that," Daniel agreed. Between Stark, Wanda, John, and everyone else, their wedding was going to be full of people who were not gonna be happy if something happened to interrupt it.

When she came out in the purple dress, he motioned to the collar and shoulder area.

"I'm not sure what you'd call that there, but I like it. And you can invite anyone you want."

"What about that young man, Peter? I think Tony knows him, even if I am going to end that man for what he called his robot," Peggy notes crossly, thinking that if she murders an artificial intelligence, does that actually make her a murderer?

She smooths her hands over the dress and stares at herself, feeling quite light and airy, though it seems more a bridesmaid dress. Shaking her head, she takes up Daniel's suggestion next, giving him a heated look. "Daniel, this is very unconventional," she can't help but tease.

"Yeah, I know that kid. First time I met him, he was asking his robot for help with something, which is what actually got my attention," Daniel chuckled. "I think he's a little scared of you."

Peggy would take that as a compliment, which it was meant to be.

"Unconventional for our time, but maybe not for this one. And we're in this one, so we gotta go with the times, right?"

That was true, plus he wasn't going to turn down a chance to see Peggy all dressed up. He didn't think this one was the winner, though.

"Everyone should be," Peggy says haughtily, given that she believes that in her heart. She thinks that it would be terrible of her not to invite him, though, seeing as he'd been nothing but polite. Wandering out in Daniel's dress, she gives him an amused look as she turns enough to show off the very low back.

"We'd best not get married in the winter for this one," she notes, but it's actually the fabric that makes her more wary. It seems like it could wrinkle quickly and if they want pictures, she doesn't want that happening too soon.

It was a little lower than it had seemed on the hanger, he'd admit that. And maybe it showed a too much of things she didn't want people seeing, things like her scars. Not that she was ashamed of them, but there was not ashamed and there was wearing a dress that showed them off.

"I don't wanna wait that long to marry you anyway. But I think you're right. This one might be a little low in the back."

Peggy twists and turns just a little in the mirror to see the cut of it, laughing when she sees the slip of her underwear peeking out. "Yes, I think it might be," she agrees, though she takes the time to wander closer to him, wrapping her arms around his neck as she leans forward in her stance.

"And for you? What lovely suit am I going to see you in? Traditional black or a colour perhaps? My only demand is that you can't wear one of your florals."

With him sitting and her leaning like this, he was getting a great view down her dress, and he wasn't being real subtle about looking, either, although he did look at her face when she teased him about his suit.

"I don't know what you have against those. They're comfortable, they're cool, and they wash easy," he replied. "I'm thinking black, though, with maybe a tie that goes with whatever you end up with. No one's gonna be looking at me anyway, not with you all dolled up."

Peggy hardly minds him looking, mainly because he's her fiancé and if she had trouble with him looking at her like this, she might have had conversations far earlier about the fact that he's staring.

"They're not for weddings, but the honeymoon, you could convince me," she says, giving him a look. "And please," she scoffs, "with you all cleaned up and in a suit, I'm going to have to tear people's eyes off how handsome you are."

"Where do you even go on a honeymoon in a place you can't leave?" Daniel asked. "I guess we could wait a little while till that ski lodge place opens up in December and have a week up there or something."

He was pretty sure the only people looking at him would be trying to figure out how the hell a fella who looked like him ended up with Peggy Carter, but this was an ongoing argument.

"Or the beach, or countryside," she lists, thinking of all the places they don't tend to go unless they're working. She thinks even taking off enough days from their own investigations would be a suitable honeymoon, though she intends to prevent either of them from wearing clothes for the majority of the time.

She steps back into the stall and finds a bejewelled, pale-purple dress with sleeves, with a full length gown. Carefully, she slides into it, not wanting to ruin it. "That does raise the question," she says, still in the stall, "what happens if we go home? Would our marriage stand?"

He'd spent a lot of time thinking about that, actually, but it was hard to really figure anything out when no one knew whether they went back to the moment they left their own world or whatever. Not to mention no one knew whether they remembered what had happened here. Eleanor had remembered being in Darrow before, but he thought there were other people who hadn't. Just his luck that he would go back to September 46 and remember it, but not be able to do a damn thing about it.

"I guess it depends whether we go home to the same place, but probably not. How do you explain 'I got married in something that's like Jersey but isn't and oh by the way it was 2018', after all?" he asked.

"I'm not getting a tattoo," is her instant remark, seeing as that would certainly help them to remember, but it's the last thing she wants. "I'd like to think we were on our way there. After all, I was sitting in your lap kissing you when I arrived," she points out, finishing with the zipper most of the way, though she needs Daniel's help for the rest.

Lifting her hair out of the way (it's beginning to get very long, curling past her shoulders now even when she does it), she steps out backwards. "Zip, please?"

"Assuming the world didn't end, I'd like to think we would have gotten there. Rose must have been busting her buttons about it, if she saw that," he agreed fondly. Rose had known how he felt about Peggy from the start, practically, even though he thought he'd been pretty subtle about it. Not subtle enough for Rose, apparently.

When she came out in a dress that was shimmery and kinda floaty but showed off her figure, he raised his eyebrows. So far, he thought this was the most "bridal" but he wasn't sure she was going for that.

"Sure," he agreed, and glanced around to make sure the saleswoman wasn't looking. She wasn't, so he dropped a kiss on the nape of Peggy's neck and then zipped the dress up.

Peggy actually blushes when he does that, grateful that Mr. Jarvis isn't around to tease her about it. She bows her head downwards, feeling a rush go through her. The dress fits snugly and she appreciates how modest it is, but also how it flares out at the hips.

Turning, she smooths her fingers over the small false gems that give it a starlike appeal, holding out a hand. "Will you dance with me? Let me see the range of motion to this one?"

"I'm a little afraid I'll step on the hem, but we'll give it a shot," he agreed. He wasn't ever going to turn down a chance to dance with her now that he pretty much could. He wasn't stupid.

He took her hand and stepped into a respectable waltz position with his cane over his arm in case he needed it.

"Better not break it or we'll have to buy it, right?"

"Well, if you step on the hem, then we clearly need to get it altered," is Peggy's practical reply to that sort of worry. She smiles warmly as she holds out her hands for Daniel to take, thinking that as she frames her body, the corset isn't too tight, as opposed to the others with boning involved.

"This is nice," she says, of the dancing and the dress. "It's not too tight or formal, but it looks it. And I appreciate that it's not quite white."

The dress looked like it let her move pretty easy, but it didn't hide her figure while it did that. He wasn't sure what to call the fabric that had the sparkly, spangly things on it, but she didn't seem to find it uncomfortable, whatever it was.

"Yeah, it's nice. Do those sparkly things itch or poke you?"
