He smiles at her, leaning into her touch. Her question makes him think about freezing water and the cold seeping into first his bones and then his breath. He swallows down a sick feeling, looking back at her and trying to drink in the warmth of her face.

"I was out cold," he says, smiling faintly at his pun. He inhales deeply. "You look beautiful. It's so good to see you again."
